Yesterday, Sunday, November 17, 2019, was national awareness day for PREEMIE babies!
This is a day that I was never aware of, until now because PREEMIE babies have a huge part of my heart, just like my baby girl, Ryleigh.
Ryleigh mastered an AMAZING milestone yesterday! What a perfect way to celebrate World Prematurity Day!! Around 9:00 am on Sunday (11/17/19), Ryleigh's nasal cannula was removed and she has been completely on room air since then...that means she is no longer receiving any kind of support to help her breathe!! She is now doing it all on her own!! Whooohooo, Go Ryleigh!!
Also, on Saturday night (11/16/19) when she was weighed at her assessment time...she weighed 5 lbs. 15.9 oz. which is rounded to 6 lbs!! Her daddy said she would be 6 lbs. by Saturday the 16th and she was! He is always good about guessing her weight! She is getting closer and closer to coming home! Daddy and Mommy are so proud and amazed at what she has accomplished in 10 weeks (70 days) in the NICU!
On Saturday, Mommy also signed Ryleigh up to be part of the Tiny Superheroes Squad. This is an organization for children with illnesses and disabilities. Anyone can nominate a child and they will receive a Superhero cape. However, it is important to raise money so that others can receive their cape at no charge. Shortly after posting Ryleigh's link on Saturday, $30 was raised to sponsor her cape. Of course we wanted it personalized so we needed to have $120 raised and by Sunday evening, Ryleigh had $120+ given in her honor by our family and friends. We can't thank you all enough! We want to continue raising money to sponsor capes for other children. Please visit her link below help sponsor capes for extraordinary children and visit the Page on her website!
